Guest: Laura Mazada
Welcome to Ascended Warrior: Soul Codes for a Shifting World. This is your sacred space to awaken, align, and rise in your purpose.
In this episode, I’m joined by Laura Mazada, founder of Emerging Healing and Wellness and host of the Akashic Musing Podcast. Laura is a holistic therapist with over twenty years of experience who transitioned fully into spiritual and energetic work after her own profound healing journey through chronic illness and sepsis.
What follows is a powerful exploration of sovereignty, healing, and releasing victim consciousness — not by denying pain, but by reclaiming agency, awareness, and self-love.
Illness, Trauma, and Awakening
Both Laura and I share the lived experience of serious illness — experiences that did not define us, but instead opened us. Illness became an initiatory experience, one that stripped away old identities and forced a deeper relationship with the self.
Rather than seeing illness as a sentence or failure, we discuss how it can become a catalyst for awakening, clarity, and embodiment. Healing begins not by “fixing” ourselves, but by learning to love and nourish ourselves fully — even in the midst of pain.
Understanding Victim Mentality Without Shame
Victim mentality is not a flaw or weakness. It is a nervous system response — a contraction that arises from overwhelm, confusion, fear, or unresolved trauma. These sensations deserve compassion and acknowledgment.
At the same time, we are not meant to live there.
Victim consciousness may visit, but it does not define who we are. The key is learning to recognize it without identifying with it. Once awareness is present, choice becomes possible.
Sovereignty Is a Practice, Not a Destination
Sovereignty is not something we achieve once and keep forever. It is a daily practice — sometimes a moment-by-moment choice.
Awareness leads to choice:
- Do I want to stay here?
- Do I want to heal?
- Do I want to respond differently?
This does not mean bypassing pain. It means honoring it without allowing it to run our lives.
Embodiment Tools for Reclaiming Power
Healing happens through the body, not just the mind.
Simple grounding practices — gestures, breath, physical awareness — help bring the nervous system back into the present moment. These embodied cues remind us: This is now. I am safe. I am sovereign.
Each time we choose presence, the body learns a new pattern. Over time, resilience replaces reactivity.
Self-Love as the True Superpower
True self-love is not about improvement or perfection. It is about recognition — seeing yourself as the sum of all experiences, choices, and lessons.
When you can look at your life and say, I am exactly who I was meant to be, the victim narrative dissolves. Trauma becomes a teacher, not an identity.
Mirrors, Triggers, and Soul Agreements
The people who challenge us most are often our greatest teachers. They reveal where we are minimizing ourselves, where we are invited to strengthen our voice, boundaries, or self-trust.
This does not mean tolerating harm. It means recognizing the lesson without carrying resentment.
Every soul we encounter is part of a larger agreement designed to support growth.
Joy, Play, and Magic as Pathways
Joy is not frivolous — it is directional.
Curiosity, play, creativity, and wonder are gateways back to the self. When something sparks joy, it is often a breadcrumb from spirit, guiding us toward alignment.
Follow what feels expansive. Joy is a signpost.
Closing Reflection
This time in history is intense by design. The heaviness we feel — socially, politically, emotionally — is an invitation to reconnect with self, community, and purpose.
You are not here by accident. You are here to remember who you are, to stand in sovereignty, and to walk this moment with courage, compassion, and presence.
Until next time — love and light.
